We care about our impact on the world, and what we create while we are here.
Support your local SSWEATSHOP.
SSWEATSHOP was founded by Van — a first-generation Chinese immigrant, and Jamie — born in Australia, and raised in Indonesia.
Growing up with families working in the overseas fashion and manufacturing industry, Van and Jamie were exposed early to the hardships of workers’ rights within the environment.
In 2016, they decided to do things differently.
With a name like SSWEATSHOP, we actively acknowledge negative connotations as a way to promote the positives of manufacturing in Australia — by paying workers well above the award wage, and providing a safe and healthy workplace while supporting a racially diverse team.
We know fast fashion and cheap labour are easily accessible around the globe. At SSWEATSHOP we believe in supporting local businesses and keeping manufacturing in Australia.
We’ll continue to do what we can, with initiatives such as Keep The Doors Open – where we gave back over $23,000 to businesses, musicians and artists during the COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020.
We’re a community-conscious and climate-positive company, committed to offsetting our carbon emissions. We donate monthly to Greening Australia in an attempt to reduce our impact on the environment. Our water-based inks are eco-friendly, and we use compostable bags in our production process. Our production floor and offices run on LED lighting.
We acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land in which we work, live and operate upon. We pay respects to Elders, past, present and emerging — and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was and always will be, Aboriginal land.
